You only need crystal to use these boosts. Although you can purchase crystals at in-game store, you will earn crystals as you play the game. You can use those crystals also for refilling your health, and to purchase additional moves and time.

2) Word Boost: Finds a long word for you;

3) Double: Doubles the score of the current word.
